How to fix tags and album art on your phone

Editing a track

1. In the MP95 library, open the track’s menu (the three dots).
2. Choose Edit tags….
3. Change the title, artist, album or track number, and pick a cover image if you like.
4. Save. The changes are written into the file itself.

Which files

• MP3: ID3v2.3, keeping every frame you did not edit.
• FLAC: Vorbis comments and the picture block; the audio stream is untouched.
• M4A: on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

WAV and AIFF have weak tag support and are not edited; tracks imported from the Apple Music library are links, not files, and are not edited either.

Is it safe?

The write is atomic: a new file replaces the old one only when it is complete, and a track that is playing finishes from the old copy. The library refreshes with the new tags and covers straight away.

For whole libraries

For hundreds of albums, a desktop tagger with a database is faster: MusicBrainz Picard (free, all platforms) or Mp3tag (Windows, Mac). MP95 is for the fixes you notice while listening.
